ESOL students achieved the best results ever this year! 100% of our E3 entries for Cambridge Skills for Life exams passed the whole certificate this year, passing not only reading and writing but also speaking and listening. The results at E1 and E2 were also stunning and most ESOL students went on to the next level exams in the summer. But English is only part of the programme our students follow and we would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr Perretta and Mrs Shergill for helping our students
to their great results in ICT (again 100% at E3) and Mr Hussain for his maths lessons. Hannah Griffiths of the People Get Ready Theatre Company took charge of arts enrichment for another year and students took part in weekly drama workshops at the 999 Club in Deptford and enjoyed a Christmas pantomime together at the Unicorn Theatre.
The students celebrated their success at our annual Celebration of Achievement where certificates for the January exams were presented by Mr Richards and prizes were given to Catherine Pouka, Stanislava Teneva, Davids Bordans, Bruce Ducastel, Xiaolin Wang and Henry Sackey for effort, progress and contribution to ESOL.
Our students went on a visit to the Woolwich Heritage Centre this spring and were given a very entertaining, educational talk about life in Victorian London. They had the opportunity to handle household objects such as heavy domestic irons and mangles, as well as trying on Victorian garments, which they thoroughly enjoyed.
On our summer trip to central London, we marvelled at the Serpentine Gallery Pavilion designed by Sou Fujimoto and the wonders of the Science Museum before tucking into a delicious cake, made by Catherine, while sipping cappuccino at the Lido café at the Serpentine. We are delighted that many of our students are going on to study Level 1 and 2 courses at Corelli next year as well as those coming back for a second year of English language. It is always such a pleasure for us to see students move on into mainstream and achieve their goals. We wish all our students, those staying at Corelli and those who are leaving us this year, a happy and successful future.
